The Madikwe Game Reserve consists of 76,000 hectares of African scrub, woodlands, grasslands and open plains including some unique geological features such as the ancient inselbergs.
The Reserve is home to a wide variety of animals including the "Big 5" (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo) in addition to cheetah, wild dog, hyena, giraffe, zebra and various antelope.
The reserve is also home to over 350 species of birds, including ostrich, secretary birds, eagles, bateleurs, rollers, bee-eaters, thrush, shrike, waxbills and whydah's.
